Plantation Walk: Broward’s Best New Destination Coming To Life
The shopping hot spot of the ’90s known as the Plantation Fashion Mall sat vacant for years, but it’s now a thing of the past. The former Fashion Mall has been demolished, and rising in its place is a 21st-century neighbor¬hood, Plantation Walk.
The $350 million projects infuse resort-level hospitality throughout a walkable, seamlessly connected community of shopping, dining, entertainment, living and working. It is the vision of mega-developer Author Falcone, the man behind a number of world-class developments, including Miami Worldcenter and Margarita-vine Resort Orlando. Falcone says this is exactly what this area of Bro-ward County has been waiting for.
“The name Plantation Walk de-scribes what this will be – a walk-able, enjoyable hotspot unique to Plantation and South Florida,” said Falcone, CEO and Managing Princi¬pal of Encore Capital Management. “This is a game-changer for the city and region. Once people arrive – whether to work, shop, or live -they’ll have little reason to leave.”
For years, Broward residents have been forced to head east to find upscale shopping and renowned restaurants. Soon, Plantation Walk will bring residents everything they have been looking for in one place. You will be able to enjoy an afternoon with friends or a romantic evening at the hottest restaurant … all of it right in your own backyard.
Plantation Walk will have plenty of outdoor seating and green space, making it a walkable destination with a downtown vibe.
“We are making this a restaurant, retail, and enter¬tainment hotspot that will give residents a reason to stay in Plantation, and not have to go east to Fort Lauderdale and Las Olas,” added Falcone. “We are looking at some top entertainment options, as well as well-known national restaurants and many new concepts that are chef-driven and unique to South Florida. We also have the ability and space to hold concerts and events on-site.”
In addition to the 180-thousand square feet of shops and restaurants, the 32-acre property also includes luxury apartment rentals, which are currently under construction. The Rise” will house 700 luxury apartments, perfect for those wanting to live, work, and play in the heart of Plantation.
The property also includes a 160-thou¬sand square foot, Class A office space, which opened earlier this year. The building is almost fully leased with Aetna serving as the main tenant. The Sheraton Hotel, which is also on-site, is currently undergoing renovations.
With construction well underway, fantastic food, shops, and entertainment will soon be available to all. After nearly a decade of staring at an abandoned mall, it is time for residents to get excited.
